Spain captain Iker Casillas was the first person who came outside from plane and held the World Cup aloft at the top of the stairs when the team returned to Madrid for the start of formal ceremonies in the afternoon.
Spain has won the World Cup for the first time by beating the Netherlands with 1-0 after extra time in South Africa on Sunday, and shortly after, when they were flying their return home.
