World Cup 2010 Soccer South Africa vs Mexico Betting Preview

World Cup 2010 Soccer South Africa vs Mexico Preview: South Africa vs Mexico Live soccer betting odds 2010 Soccer world cup. South Africa vs Mexico match starts at 16:00 GMT, Group A, June 11, 2010 Soccer City Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa.

South Africa, which qualified for the World cup in 1998 and 2002, is unbeaten in 12 straight matches leading up to its first World Cup match in eight years.

No host nation has ever failed to make the knockout stage, and Mexico presents a tough challenge in the Group A opener. Mexico has reached the knockout round in its last four World Cups, and is the favorite to win the group.

Mexico went through a gauntlet ahead the World Cup with games against England, the Netherlands and Italy. The Mexicans dropped the games against England and Holland, but beat Italy 2-1 on goal from Carlos Vela and Alberto Medina in its last warm-up match.

South Africa player in focus: Katlego Mphela. South Africa left Benni McCarthy out of the squad for a reason and one of them is the form of Mphela. With four goals in his last two starts, the Mamelodi Sundowns striker has made a first-team place his own and, on the back of an incredible goal in the Confederations Cup against Spain, his star is on the rise.

Mexico player in focus: Javier Hernandez. Having just moved to Manchester United in a deal reported to be around £10 million, the spotlight will well and truly be on the young striker. Quick, agile and with a good eye for goal, he has scored seven goals in 12 games for his country. Will need to perform better than he managed in the friendly at Wembley though, if he is to prove his doubters wrong.

Key Battle: Steven Pienaar vs. Andres Guardado. Pienaar's form is crucial if South Africa have any hope of getting out of the group and his work on the wing will set up chances for his team-mates. A great season at Everton has raised expectation, but then Guardado's form for Deportivo has also raised the bar on the other side. Both wide men are creative, quick and their battle down the flanks will be a deciding factor in how the game goes.

Trivia: This year's opening match is the first ever in Africa and it will be the third opener to feature an African team. On both previous occasions the African sides picked up shocks wins as Cameroon beat holders Argentina 1-0 in 1990 and Senegal beat champions France by the same score in 2002.

Stats: South Africa coach Parreira will take charge of a side at his sixth World Cup. Kuwait (1982), United Arab Emirates (1990), Saudi Arabia (1998) and Brazil (1994 and 2006); while Mexico have been sent home in the Second Round stage in the past four World Cup tournaments.

Prediction: You can't rule out the importance of the crowd in the first game. Players at the Confederations Cup complained of hearing what sounded like a swarm of bees on the pitch - in fact it was the vuvuzela noise - and Mexico could be stunned. It should be enough for South Africa to claim at least a draw.

Uruguay vs France Live Betting Picks 2010 Soccer World Cup: After the opening ceremony first match between South Africa vs Mexico after that next match between Uruguay vs France at 8:30pm South Africa Time. The match between Uruguay and France will takes place at Green Point Stadium, Cape Town.

Uruguay is also not of having a much positive outlook. Currently Uruguay is No. 16 in the FIFA World Rankings.Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez has already named his team for the match, opting for a 4-4-2 that contains few surprises. Opposite number Raymond Domenech has thrown France's plans into chaos over the past couple of weeks by experimenting with a 4-3-3 formation that he had never employed before. Using the new system, France lost 1-0 to China in their last friendly on Reunion last Friday.

France have conceded in eight of their last nine games against all opponents other than the Faroe Islands. Gallas (still suffering from a troublesome calf injury) and Eric Abidal (better at left-back) form a mediocre centre-back partnership, leaving goalkeeper Hugo Lloris exposed time and time again.

3 World Cup 2010 Soccer - Dark Horses Bet - 2010 World Cup Betting Odds

Every World Cup there are always a few teams that shock the world.

I don’t mean that they go out and win the tournament outright, but they advance through the groups stages or into the quarterfinals. Whether it’s the Koreans and Japanese advancing deep, or the Italians winning the tournament outright, there are always going to be some dark horse – and very profitable – teams to bet on in every World Cup.

You don’t necessarily have to bet on these fringe teams to win it all, but you need to know that there are teams getting through that aren’t supposed to, and there is a ton of money to be made off these often neglected teams with great World Cup betting odds.

Here are three to bank on:

Italy – Not expected to repeat, struggled through qualifying…then got themselves a draw in Group F alongside Paraguay, New Zealand and Slovakia. A group that they could be runners-up in in their sleep. Advancing out of this group stage is a gift, and to top it all of the advancing teams from Group F move on the play the winner or runner up to Group E, a group featuring Denmark, Japan, Camaroon and the Netherlands. Only the Dutch can be considered top tier World Cup contenders. So by default of their group placement, it is very conceivable to see the Italians advance almost easily into the Quarter-Finals. Maybe not Champions, but you’ll be able to make money along the way.

Ghana – Ivory Coast would have been a legitimate “homer” pick, but with the Drogba injury and the Ivory Coast in this years Group of Death, this is a great spot for Ghana to at least advance into the elimination stage. Unlike Italy, seeing them past the first round outside of the group stage is highly unlikely, but there is great money in them advancing out of there group.

Chile – Somebody has to advance behind Spain in Group H. The Spanish are coming into the World Cup on fire, and will have little trouble with Chile, the Swiss or Honduras, but the Chileans have a great shot at coming in a distant second and advancing out out of the group. Unfortunately they will be facing the winner of the Group of Death, but bet on the Chileans getting out of the group stage. Read More!
